I am trying to get the list of the animations using GetAnimationNames() but i get a tabled filled with userData which I can not read, ca someone explain how to deal with that?

Try using tostring() on the user data values. Otherwise, if you need to get the animation strings for a mesh, you can see them by hovering over the Copy Animation Names button in the property window
